Being in the hospital sucks but thankfully due to Dean’s cousin, Jordan, and her brothers’ wife, who’s a doctor, I’d been allowed to leave. Connors was able to get it to where I could go home sooner with the promise of lots of rest. She’s been coming to check up on me for the past two weeks.
From the day Dean brought me home, he’s been doing nothing but doting on me. His mother and father have both been by to check on me. My da even came when Dean called to inform him of what happened. I love my da but I’ve never known him to travel to the States before. He’s always requested the men who need to meet with him in regards to business come to Ireland when they needed to meet with him in person.
“Mo chuisle, do you need anything?” Dean asks, interrupting my thoughts.
I glance up from where I’m lying on the couch to find him staring down at me from the back of the couch. A grin playing on my lips. He knows what I want but he’s refused until Connors gives the go ahead.
I love how he’s been tentative about not wanting to hurt me and let my body rest from the beating it took tumbling down the stairs. And well, he also wanted to give my wrist a chance to heal as well. I’m stuck in a cast for four more weeks and I’m not waiting that long to have him inside me.
“How about you?” I suggest with a giggle causing him to smirk.
“Soon as Connors clears you, mo chuisle, I’ll be deep inside you in a heartbeat,” he chuckles and leans over the back of the couch and plants a smoldering kiss to my lips.
Hmm, I love him kissing me.
Standing back up, Dean moves around the couch to come sit next to me.
“You know I love you, Bridget, and I’ll do anything for you, right?” he asks, his tone changing and I wonder what he’s going to say next.
“Yes,” I say apprehensively.
“Good, so I want you to know what I’ve done is for you and I hope you don’t get mad,” he mutters.
“What?”
“I’ve spoken with your father and as head of my family after my father stepped down, deciding he was happy to retire, I make all the decisions.”
“I know this,” I murmur, my lips suddenly becoming dry.
“Yes, you do. Now what I’m about to tell you, you should know your father has agreed to. I’ve signed a contract with him for your sister to marry one of my men,” he announces.
Oh my.
He signed her over to one of his men.
“Who?” I demand.
“Mitch.” My eyes widen and I swear they feel like they could pop out of my head at any moment.
I slowly sit up and maneuver myself onto his lap. I wrap my arms around his neck and lay my head on his chest when he leans back against the couch. “Have I told you how much I adore being your wife?”
“No, sweetness, you haven’t but I know you do,” he murmurs, pressing a kiss to the top of my head.
“I do. So very much. Thank you for being the love of my life and keeping me from running away when I climbed down the trellis of my father’s home,” I whisper. I couldn’t be any happier to know who my sister is going to marry is a good man.
Well, he is at least to me and I can only hope he’ll embrace her into his heart as Dean has with me.
Chuckling, Dean runs his fingers through my hair. “I would have come after you even if you got away from me, mo chuisle. You were always meant to be mine and I’m never letting you get away from me.”
Epilogue
Dean
Six Months Later
“You had better have a good explanation for this?” I demand, crossing my arms over my chest, staring at the love of my life, mo chuisle, my wife.
However, right now I’m not thrilled with her.
“Um, well, you see, I do,” she giggles.
“Then enlighten me,” I growl, glaring at the mutt in her arms. She’d gone off with Jordan and Connors earlier in the day and came home a few moments ago holding a fuckin’ dog in her arms.
Not just any dog, a Boston Terrier.
I haven’t had a dog since I’d been a kid and I figured if we did get one eventually, it would be a bigger dog. One like a Great Dane or even an American Bulldog.
“I saw this little thing at the shelter we stopped at and I couldn’t leave him. He’s adorable and I figure he’d be great practice since he’s only six weeks old,” she prattles.
“What the hell is this dog going to help us with?” I ask, quirking a brow at my wife.
“For when we have our own baby,” she announces and my heart stills in my chest.
“You want to have a baby?” I wanted children with her but we hadn’t spoken of them. I figured with her just turning twenty-one, we had plenty of time.
“I do want to, Dean, but more than that I am,” Bridget says with a bright smile on her face.
Shit.
I move across the room quickly, take the dog from Bridget’s arms, put it on the floor at our feet, and pull her in my arms. “You’re pregnant?”
“I am,” she whispers, her head tilted back to meet my gaze.
“Fuckin’ love you, Bridget O’Connell,” I state and lean in to capture her mouth.
I couldn’t ask for a better woman to be married to or to have my child.
Holding her to me, I embrace the emotions she fills me with. I’m going to be a dad. I’ll do everything I can to make sure she and our child are protected. In the world we live in, I’ll never allow anyone else to get close to her. Not after what Ember and Sapphire tried to do so many months ago.
I’ve never
