so basically, he gave it to me. He’s always sorta been… like a dad to me. When I told him about you, he was surprised, but he said that if I was happy, then he was happy. It really meant a lot to me, for him to just accept it like that.” Wesley stared into his lap, pensive and serious. Then he looked up at me and laughed.

“It means a lot to me too,” I said, handing him a plate. “But didn’t I tell you not to call me princess?” I said, sitting next to him on the sofa. Wesley smiled goofily, and I shook my head.

We ate dinner on the sofa and watched TV. Wesley took my plate and did the dishes, leaving the casserole dish in the sink to soak. We watched TV and talked, and I reminded him that I had orientation for school on Wednesday.

“Do you want me to go with you? I might be able to go in late to work,” Wesley asked, resting his hand on the sofa behind my head.

“No, that’s okay. My mom’s going with me. Thanks, though.” I pushed my head back against his hand. “Oh yeah, my mom is coming back for dinner too.”

“Okay, cool.” He seemed genuinely happy that Mom was visiting and the pit of my stomach felt warm. Wesley stood up and patted my head. “I’m gonna go hop in the shower.”

Wesley took his showers at night since he got so dirty at work and the auto grease would transfer to our sheets. I watched him walk to the bedroom and then disappear into the bathroom. I went to the kitchen and stared at the pan in the sink. I heard the shower start and I clenched my hands on the counter. I took a deep breath, smiled shyly, went to the bedroom, and took off all my clothes.

The bathroom door stuck and I had to push with a little force to open it. I was trying so hard to be quiet. I tiptoed to the shower and pulled back the curtain a little. Wesley had his back to me and was rinsing the shampoo out of his hair. I stepped over the side of the tub and Wesley turned around quickly.

“What—what are you doing?” he asked with a desirable grin.

I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. I wanted to give him a cool line, but I couldn’t think of anything to say. “I… I wanted to take a shower too,” I answered pathetically, my whole body blushing.

Wesley took my hand and looked me over amorously. I closed my eyes and allowed my hands to wander all over his body. His skin was smooth; fleshy in some places and hard and angled in others. My body responded to the topographical exploration of all the corners and crevices of his figure. My fingers wandered downward, and I began to frig him gently with both hands.

“That’s… gonna be really clean,” he whispered with a laugh, then grunted quietly. He took me in his hands and rubbed softly. I stepped closer to him, under the spray of water, and rested my forehead on his shoulder. Wesley kissed me, licked my lips, and pulled on me harder and faster. We stared into each other’s eyes silently, kissing intermittently, nearing climax. Wesley pulled me close, pressed against his stomach, and we came together, clinging to each other, exhausted.

“Aw man, that was the best shower ever!” Wesley said, walking around the bedroom completely naked while rubbing the towel over his head.

I climbed into bed and waited for Wesley. He jumped in and crawled on top of me. He touched and licked me all over, and I clung to him for dear life. We were in bed by nine, exhausted by ten, and asleep by eleven.

Chapter 25

MOM CAME over around noon. She wore blue jeans and a T-shirt and had her hair pulled back in a ponytail. She planned to drive to campus, but I told her that I was usually going to ride the bus to school, so she wanted to take the bus too. She was really excited, and I couldn’t help but tease her.

“Oh, this brings back so many memories! Tor, you’re gonna love college. This is so much fun!”

“Mom, calm down,” I said quietly, glancing around. No one was looking at us, but I felt self-conscious. Mom always was kind of a spaz when she got excited, but it was also why we had so much fun together.

The orientation was boring and Mom and I skipped out of the campus tour. We sat outside and watched people and talked. I scheduled my classes, and we went to the bookstore and got my books. I was surprised by how much the books cost and fortunate that Mom put the bill on her credit card. We got home a little after four and we sat and talked, waiting for Wesley to come home.

“You should join some clubs too. That’s a great way to make friends. I’m sure they have a history club or something. It’ll be good, too, because you can talk to others and see if you wanna major in education or if you wanna do straight history. I was in a nursing club at school and also the anthro club. Oh! Maybe you could join the newspaper too. I worked at the paper and it was so much fun!”

“You wish you were still in college, don’t you?” I asked, after listening to Mom’s suggestions. She was outgoing and popular; she liked to be involved in everything.

“Maybe, a little bit,” she agreed. “College was just so much fun! Your dad and I went to the same school and he was on the newspaper too. I had the time of my life then, so it’s all happy memories for me. And now my little boy is all grown up and going off to college! I can’t help but be excited for you.”

I laughed and Mom patted my head. It
