Liberty Island
Date: June 26th, 2021 – 8:27 AM – 3 minutes before Invasion
Aiden, Luis, Veronica and Allison all stood next to each other as they looked out to the farther part of the Upper Bay, standing on Liberty Island, as the clear sky and wind began to pick up leisurely. They were all here in New York City to meet Roxanne Hartburn, Tracy, and Veronica’s older sister, for her birthday and have sometime off during this summer. They were told by Roxanne to meet her back in New York City at noon for lunch instead despite them arriving in the morning after few hours’ drive from Pennsylvania, so they decided to kill off some time by going to Liberty Island.
“Remind me again why we are at Liberty Island?” Luis inquired. “Why didn’t Trix along with us?”
The redheaded teen, now 17, sighed deeply as she looked at Luis in a vexing way; “This is like the 3rd time that I am going to say it. Tracy did not want to come, since she despises Roxanne, and we came here to Liberty Island to kill off some time before we meet her for lunch.”
“Oh alright,” Luis said as they all stared at the Upper Bay waters surrounding Liberty Island, with the tranquil tides and the clear pleasant blue sky with not many clouds in sight. The four were sad that Tracy did not want to come to New York City due to Roxanne, sister-to-sister rivalry, that they had in the past. Aiden thought about the therapy that he had to go through for the past year, which was about to finish soon. He was glad that he was not going to jail, since he was still under the age of 18.
Tourists were taking photographs of the Statue of Liberty, posing with their family and friends, as the four were really bored on what to do on Liberty Island, as they were thinking about nothing really. With silence between the four, something in the sky began to come out of a blue-ish purple edged portal above Manhattan, but Luis interrupted the silence since it was boring him to death, trying to entice up the mood if possible.
“Freeze the Upper Bay Veronica,” Luis spoke. “Make it full of enticement and fun!”
“No way!” Veronica replied firmly.
“Like come on,” Luis said. “We are so bored to death, what the hell are we doing in New York, its not like we are here to save the actual day or anything, like Spider-Man or any other super-hero does, since Manhattan is the most used setting in fiction.”
“For the last time-,” Veronica stammered angrily. But she got interrupted by Allison as she saw something in the sky above, as she pointed it out and said to others.
“Guys, look!” Allison pointed to the sky. “What is that thing in the sky? A UFO?”
“Its not a thing,” Aiden said as he sternly looked to the sky. “Its two UFOs. Its too big to be an excuse of a weather balloon. But its not just that, did those UFOs just come out of a portal in the sky?”
The crowd of people along with the four stood at the edge of Liberty Island staring up at the sky as they witnessed a phenomenon going on in the sky. It was a giant futuristic mothership that was a couple kilometers long alongside another more rectangular prismatic militarized ship, which was a Freighter. Both the spaceships in the sky were Sherwood black-ish green with neon teal glowing lights emitting, with narrow sprouted one manned ship coming towards Manhattan and Liberty Island, those ships were known as ‘Sparrows’. Many of those Sparrows started to come mainly from the Freighter ship as the mothership went towards the Times Square as it was about to place its Tri-Needle tower.
As the four and the crowd behind them stared up at the sky, a purple fiery lighted figure was seen, gliding through the sky with pink, purple like glass wings as it was flying towards a Sparrow ship. The Sparrow ship began to attack with its plasma armaments, as the gliding figure struck through the Sparrow which cut in half. The halves of the Sparrow ship began to fall towards Liberty Island as the four looked at each other. The crowd began to run away in fear of the Sparrow’s falling debris hitting them.
“Alright, Veronica, now is a good time to freeze up the Upper Bay!” Luis yelled. “I mean for real!”
“Agree!” Veronica said. “Aiden, Allison and Luis make sure nobody gets hurt, alright?”
The three nodded, as Veronica jumped off Liberty Island, using her ice formation powers to form an Atlantic ice slide as she did a perimeter around the Island expeditiously as she was increasing in elevation. As she was sliding swiftly on the ice, she used her hands to create the ice formation more and more, as it was shaping up to be a cyclone, acting as a temporary shield to protect the NYC citizens from getting hurt from the Sparrow ship debris. Despite her wearing regular sneakers, pair of jeans and traditional clothing, she could absorb and control her ice abilities intricately well, despite not being bare footed. But the cyclone of ice had large gaps between it, as Allison looked up to see Veronica so high up and it was a few seconds before the debris was about to impact her.
Allison began to imagine ice walls filling up the gaps of the ice cyclone that Veronica created that almost went to the height of the Statue of Liberty. The ice wall innards slowly began to appear as Veronica used the ice to slide back down from high up, as she slowly descended back to safety. Before she could land safely, the debris smashed through the ice fillings that Allison imagined, which caused Veronica to trip off her ice slide and fall down to the Upper Bays of
