buys it.

He needs to let his sister rest in peace and not dredge up her past. What difference would it make at this point? And to be fair, I really don’t know what Charlotte was taking in the days before she died because I was consumed with my Grandma’s illness and then her death.

He’s quiet and I lay there in silence with him. I can’t bring his sister back no matter how hard I wish for it because I’ve fucking tried. I offered whatever god is up there to take me instead, I didn’t deserve to live, and I wanted to leave this Earth anyways. But I never get what I pray for.

“Sorry I bothered you.” He finally says and my heart breaks.

“You’re not a bother.”

“Goodnight.” He whispers and hangs up the phone.

What has made him turn his sights onto his sister like this and dig through her life? What has he found out that’s making him see something he didn’t see before? I don’t want him to dig because if he finds out the one secret I have been keeping safe for over two years, then he will hate me more, along with everyone else, and everything I endured at the hands of Dean will all be for nothing.

It can’t ever be all for nothing, I couldn’t live with that thought, and the demons I keep locked away, will surely find their way out. I need to find out what he’s searching for and then I need to keep him away from it, because I don’t want him to ever drown in regret.

Amelia may be my key in all of this but I need to make it clear to her that I’m into her brother and probably always have been. I have a feeling she’s been telling Neil just how crazy Charlotte was becoming and I can’t let that come out.

None of it was her fault.

Precious Blood Academy is bustling with that Friday excitement, the students in the halls are chirping, and everyone is talking about parties they're hitting up. I have one person I need to find as I zone out all others in my peripheral vision.

"Ivy?" Her voice has me stopping dead in my tracks and my arms breaking out into goosebumps. "I haven't been able to catch up with you, you were apparently sick?"

I turn and stare into Molly's eyes, it takes everything in me not to claw them out. I know she's not her father and I know she has nothing to do with what he did to me, but her face is fucking pissing me off, nonetheless.

"I can't talk right now, Molly." I breathe in deeply, trying to calm my quaking insides, "how's your dad?"

"Oh, he's okay, I think Mom is coming back home." She looks at me with a slightly confused look.

"Tell him I say hi." I nod and then storm off. I'm not sure what made me say that and I'm not really thinking about the repercussions. Regardless of the fear I should be feeling, right now it's all rage.

I finally spot Amelia's dark curly hair standing at her locker, in the company of Veronica, Tanya, and Amber, when the fuck did she start chilling with them?

I shove myself between them and stand in Amelia's face, "we need to talk."

Her eyes widen and I hear Veronica clear her throat, I turn my head and look her in the eye, "not right now, bitch."

She looks stunned and then turns on her heel to stomp off down the hall. I look over to Tanya and Amber, shooing them away with my hands and they quickly chase after their ring leader.

"Fuck, that was hot." Amelia whispers.

"Keep those panties dry, brat." I grin at her, "I'm here to ask about your brother."

"Of course you are," she grins and leans back against her locker, "what do you need to know?"

"What has he been asking about Charlotte?"

She stands straight at that and looks up and down the hallway.

"Knock it off, no one here knew Charlotte." I hiss. "Tell me what he's asking."

"It's not so much what he's asking as it's what I'm telling him."

"What do you mean?" I step closer to her.

"Charlotte was a bitch to me, Ivy." She whispers, tears coating her eyes, "she was constantly at me about being a lesbian when we both know she was one herself, even if she didn't want to admit it."

Oh, she admitted it.

"She was taking something those last few months, apparently Dad found out." She relaxes against her locker again. "He confronted her about it the night that... you know."

Of course I fucking know, I was there.

"Then she stormed out of the house, your Grandma died, and shit just went chaotic."

"That's one way of putting it." I murmur. "He's asking me about her drug use."

"Tell him what you know because he deserves the truth, he's holding on to this fairy tale version of his sister and it wasn't reality." She sneers.

"Does he really need to know?" I raise a brow, "what difference would it make? It looks like you need to forgive your sister for her demons because she's no longer here to ask for it. She wasn't herself Amelia and eventually she would've been better, I just took that chance away from her. Forgive her and stop trying to tarnish her further in death."

She drops her eyes and blows out a breath, "it was hell with her, Ivy." Her voice shakes, "it's all I can remember and right now, forgiveness feels impossible."

"Find a way to make it possible because you will never get closure from her now and stop fucking up your brother by ripping away the good memories he has of her, you're becoming the monster now."

It's harsh, I know but she needs to hear it, defaming her sister in death is doing nothing but poisoning her insides with hatred, and there will be no apologies from the dead for their actions when they were alive.

She huffs out her breath and tears begin to
