About the Author

Guy Gavriel Kay was born and raised in Canada. In 1974–5 he spent a year in Oxford assisting Christopher Tolkien in his editorial construction of JRR Tolkien’s posthumously published The Silmarillion. Widely regarded as one of the pre-eminent fantasy novelists currently writing, he has subsequently published nine books, which have been translated into twenty-two languages and appeared on bestseller lists around the world.
