met Sierra,” he says quietly.

His fingers linger on my cheek, sending shivers through my body. “So kiss me then,” I say, still looking into his eyes.

He lowers his head, placing his mouth to mine.

Our lips come together and my body comes to life. I don’t know much, but I know I can’t lose Chance again. Being with him makes me happy in a way I never thought was possible.

I move my hands slowly up and down his body as he kisses me tenderly, a kiss so full of love it almost overwhelms me. I kiss him back, sinking into him, letting him consume me. My lips are tingling, my body crying out for his touch.

I pull back from his mouth and take his hand in mine. I lead him back into the house. I pull him towards the couch and push him down. When he’s sitting down, I straddle him and lean in to kiss him.

He catches me by my shoulders and stops me.

I frown down at him.

“Wait,” he says.

“What is it?” I ask.

“You said you wanted to take things slowly, remember,” he says.

“I did say that.” I smile. “But then I felt your body against mine and I knew that wasn’t something I could do.” I can feel his hard cock pressing against me where I straddle him and I know I’m not the only one who wants this. Now.

“But…” he starts.

“Chance, we got married on our first date. Our second date was to your brother’s wedding. I think we’re past taking things slowly aren’t we?” I laugh.

He laughs with me, his warm breath tickling my cheek. “I guess we are,” he admits.

“You told me you’re not going anywhere and I believe you. Now are you really going to try and talk me out of this after you’ve gone to so much effort to convince me we should give it a try?” I smile.

“Hell no.” He reaches up and cups my face for a second.

I can see by the look in his eyes he meant what he said. He’s not going anywhere. He’s mine now and I am his. He pushes his fingers into my hair and pulls me down for a kiss

My body melts, becoming one with his.

Epilogue

Two Months Later

Sierra

I sit on a deck chair on the sand watching Chance and Hayley. I can’t believe how much Chance has changed in these last two months. Not only has he totally relaxed around working late every night, he’s even taken two months off, so we can travel. We’re currently on a tiny tropical island off the coast of Mexico with our own beach house and a stretch of private beach that’s just for us.

Chance is showing Hayley how to play baseball. It’s definitely not something I ever would have imagined Chance doing, but he and Hayley have really taken to each other. Sometimes, I wonder if they would even notice if I wasn’t here. I don’t mean that in a bitter way, I think it’s amazing to see the softer side of Chance, and it’s so good to see Hayley having a positive male role model in her life.

“Are you ready?” Chances shouts to Hayley, getting ready to pitch the ball to her.

She holds her bat up and nods, her face set with determination.

“Okay, don’t take your eyes off the ball.” He takes a short run up and releases the ball gently.

Hayley hits it and whoops with joy as Chance chases after it. Hayley begins to run to first base.

Chance throws himself at the ball, landing stretched out on the sand. He gets up and runs towards Hayley, but she’s already safely at second base.

She puts her tongue out at him and he laughs.

I study Chance for a moment, taking in his shorts, his tanned legs. He wears a casual t-shirt and a baseball cap. I still can’t believe how much he’s mellowed out. When he suggested this trip, I half imagined him sitting on a beach in his full suit, his laptop on his knee as he frantically typed emails. I’m still half waiting for Sandy to pop up and him to start giving her instructions.

“Okay. Ready for another pitch?” Chance asks Hayley, pulling my attention back to their game.

Hayley nods eagerly and goes back to their batting spot. Chance runs up and Hayley hits the ball again, harder this time. She starts running immediately, but instead of chasing the ball, Chance chases her. She hears him coming and squeals and runs faster, but he catches her easily. He scoops her up, throws her into the air and catches her.

“Chance no, you can’t do that. It’s cheating!” Hayley is saying, but she can hardly speak for laughing.

“Are you sure? Because I think it’s in the rules you can do this.” Chance grins as he throws her into the air again.

I can’t help but smile as I watch the two of them.

“It’s not,” Hayley insists.

“Ah, okay then, you better get running,” Chance says, releasing her.

She takes off and makes her first home run. She whoops and jumps into the air.

Chance goes wild, clapping and cheering and she runs back to him for a fist bump.

My phone buzzes on the little table beside me, making me jump.

It’s a text from Sebastian. The baby is here. Can you Facetime us or are you too busy having fun?

I laugh to myself and shake my head. As if we wouldn’t be able to fit in a phone call to check in. I’m so happy for Sebastian and Kimberley.

Watching Chance and Hayley still laughing and messing around makes me feel so happy. “Chance,” I shout, putting my hand up to shield my eyes from the sun.

He doesn’t even look in my direction. He and Hayley are too engrossed in their game to hear me.

I get up and head towards them.

Chance turns as I approach them, but before I can speak, he runs towards me and picks me up with one arm. He throws me over his shoulder and runs
