After double checking everything, making sure it was all packed, I put my shoes on and quietly opened the window. I managed to get the screen off with no trouble and so that it didn’t make noise. Putting my bag outside, I put my pillows under my covers so that it looked like someone was there before I climbed out the window. Closing it behind me, I replaced the screen and picked up my bag. Moving to where the gate was, I opened it a little knowing that if you open it all the way, it began to make noise. Shutting it again, I turned to see Kane stepping out of the shadows.
“So, maybe let’s hang out at your place for a bit?”
“That, we can most definitely do, Bonnie.”
“Bonnie?”
“Bonnie and Clyde.” I closed my eyes and let out a small groan. He chuckled softly before reaching over and taking my bag from me.
“Come on, let’s get out of here.” He led me a few houses down to where a car was parked. He opened the door for me and put my bag in the back. Once I was in, he moved around to the driver’s side and got in.
“Thought this would be quieter than my bike.”
“Ahh smart thinking.” Starting up the car, he pulled away from the curb and headed in the direction I assumed his house to be. I knew he lived on Oak Street which was a few streets away from mine but I didn’t know the number or even what it looked like so I couldn’t have snuck out and gone in search of him.
“Do you have work tomorrow?”
“I do, I am on the breakfast shift so need to be there early. Hope that’s okay?”
“No problem. I will drive you in.”
“You don’t have to, I need to go back for my car so that Amy doesn’t suspect anything.”
“I’m not going to sit here and bad mouth her, it’s not my thing but I have one question before I drop it.”
“Okay, go on.”
“Why do you feel you need to sneak around?” I shrugged my shoulders.
“She gave me a place to live when I needed it. She doesn’t ask me for rent, I just buy what I need. She got me the job at the diner. Really, Amy was there when I had no one. I need to find a lawyer though. I have money that was left to me in an account by my grandparents but I can’t touch that until I turn twenty-one. That isn’t for a few more months so I want to see if there is a way that I can access it early.” We were pulling into the driveway of his house and he had yet to say a word. I watched as the garage door opened and he parked his car beside his bike before pressing the button again to close the door again but he didn’t move.
“Please, just don’t let Amy help you with that.”
“If I agree to that, can you please not put me in the middle of the two of you? I don’t know what her damage is or what is going on here but I won’t be part of it or picking sides. Your fight is exactly that.” He nodded.
“Fine, you can find someone to help me. I have the lawyer’s contact details, I just need to find where he is. Find me the loophole I need to stop depending on other people.”
“Deal.” He opened the car door and got out. Moving around and opening up my door, he grabbed my bag as I got out and shut it after me. Taking my hand, he led me inside.

Two Months Later
Kaitlyn and I had been seeing each other for a few months now. We hid it for a while, hoping to keep Amy off our case but of course, she found out and went psycho. I don’t know what it was but she had this possessive claim on Kaitlyn like she owned her or something. Both my beast and I were quick to veto that shit. She was our person and I made sure that Amy knew that. I didn’t trust her at all and made sure that if those two were together then I had eyes on them. Not me because I made Kaitlyn a promise to not make the situation between Amy and I worse by always being around. She needed girl time and I respected that… To a degree. We still had her father to worry about and the fact that he hadn’t made a move yet, had me on edge.
While Kaitlyn spent time with Amy today, I went to the club to discuss some shit with Blaze. I had talked to him about my concerns with Amy and he’d told me to go with my gut on it. Once all the shit with the missing women had been dealt with and Decoder was free to work on other things, I had asked
