I want her to know that no matter what bad things happen to us in our life, she’ll always have me in her corner.
She can never do anything that’ll lessen my love for her.
That’s something I wish Stella and I had experienced growing up. I can’t wait to meet my little nephew I’ve only heard about once from Shamus. I bet he’s the apple of his daddy's eye and the most loved little boy on the planet by his mom. Stella was always meant to be a mother; lord knows she was more of one to me than our own ever was. Stella always made sure I had clean clothes, food to eat and homework done. She always put me before herself, so I’m ecstatic that she found her forever in these men.
I just hope that I can manage to do the same for myself.
As I feel us pull off of the freeway, I begin watching the roads we travel down to get to our final destination. We begin turning down roads that have us going through a couple of subdivisions before I see nothing but trees and open land.
I look up into the sky and see a shooting star. I make a wish upon it and hope with all of my might that it comes true.
Shamus
As soon as we hit the border of our small Texas town, my muscles relaxed and I no longer held my breath that we’d make it home unscathed and undetected. We didn’t see anyone following us, but we weren’t going to take any chances and decided to ride straight through the night until we pulled into the club’s parking lot. Behind these brick walls, we are more protected than on the open road. Even with all of the brothers who are riding with us for protection.
The unknowingness of if Jeremiah had someone watching or patrolling their area left us with a sense of uneasiness. I didn’t feel my skin prickle in awareness of being watched, but you never know if you’ll miss something crucial.
The sooner we could make it home, the easier it’d be to keep an eye on the three of them. Behind these walls, I know they’ll be safe, we have measures in place to ensure that. After the battles we’ve been through because of Jamie, we’ve learned some hard-learned lessons; issues we don’t plan on acquiring ever again.
Our walls are brick with barbed wire across the top, the gate to enter is made of the strongest steel available. We will never be infiltrated or caught off guard if there was an attack. It gives me peace of mind bringing my family here. As the gate swings open, I slowly glide my bike inside. Star’s shaking hands clutch my sides harder as I feel her nails dig into me.
My cut protects me from the harshness of her talons, but I feel her fear and worry deep down to the marrow of my bones. I lift my hand up and place it over her shaky ones. I want to assure her that she has nothing to fear as we enter the club’s residence.
As soon as the bikes pull into their designated spots, the door swings open and I see Stella standing there, worry laced all over her face as she scans each and every one of us. When her eyes eventually land on her sister, her hand comes up and cups her mouth. Tears begin to stream down her cheeks, and her eyes are swollen and red, telling me the story that she’s been crying for some time now.
I feel Star’s chest hitch as she jumps from my bike and tosses the helmet she was wearing in my direction. No care for the well-being of it, not as if I can blame her for such an act that would normally have my skin crawling, and my teeth clenching.
A biker is possessive and covets his possessions as if they were made of liquid and unattainable gold.
As the sisters run for one another, all thoughts fly out the window of my menial possessions, none of them matter when it comes to her. Once the two of them collide with one another, I watch as their knees collapse and Stella holds her little sister in her embrace, rocking them both back and forth as she says something quietly into Star’s ear.
As Star nods at whatever it is Stella says, they stand up and as a united front, they hold each other’s hand as Star gravitates toward the vehicle. Jessia steps outside with Ella in her arms. She hands her over to her mother and Star lets out a sigh of contentment. She twists to the side so that her sister can see her niece for the first time. Stella’s hand comes up and glides over Ella’s head. Kruger comes up behind Stella and pulls her back into his chest.
I know how he’s feeling. It’s hard to witness these two seeing each other for the first time in years and Stella meeting Ella for the first time in her life. It’s emotional, even I feel the wetness invading my eye sockets.
Not being able to help myself, I go over and mirror Kruger’s moves on my own woman. Star looks up at me with brightness in her eyes. The happiness she’s feeling right now is contagious. I smile back at her as I take in the sleeping beauty in her arms for the first time.
I’ve only been able to see Ella from a distance up until now. She’s beautiful, looks like a small version of her mother.
I see no signs of Jeremiah in this little angel. It’s as if Star conjured her up, only giving her the best features of herself.
Every damn thing.
My heart melts at the closeness and my protective instincts roar as I take in mother and child.
They are mine.
I will never allow anyone to take this from me.
Eventually everyone settles and
