the matter?” I asked—so ready to be anywhere else but here.

“I’m cuuuursed!” She wailed. Well hell… that made two of us. I kept on rocking her in my arms because I just didn’t know what else to do. After about twenty minutes her weeping turned into soft crying, her soft crying turned into sniffles and I’ll be damn if her sniffles didn’t turn into soft snoring.

The damn woman fell asleep in my arms. I stopped pacing and rocking.

What the hell!

Not what I had in mind for this night! I took the back steps up two at a time to my room. Her belongings that she fought so hard to get back were still on the floor where I had thrown them.

I pulled back the covers on my bed and gently laid her in it. She didn’t budge outside of getting more comfortable on the pillow, and every now and again doing the swift breathing that one does when they have cried themselves to sleep. I took off her flats and she instantly drew her little feet up in a fetus position. I covered her and walked crossed the room to my window that looked out at Central Park. I wasn’t in the mood to go back to the party.

Placing one hand against the window seal, I exhaled. A woman had never caused me to lose control before. Upon seeing her body hanging from the ceiling it was as if I had tunnel vision. The only thing I could think about was taking her… hard. I rubbed my eyes with the pad of my fingertips. I don’t know if the fact that she caused my lapse in judgment was a good thing or bad. Maybe I should just let her go.

I chuckled to myself. Even before that thought could finish materializing, my whole being rejected it. I don’t know what it was about her that had brought out the primal possessive side of me, but I know that I was not letting her go. Tomorrow she was becoming my wife.

A flash of light on metal caught my eye. My gaze followed it until it landed on the dark figure that stood on a limb high up in the big tree across the street. The wind blew open the long black duster he wore, revealing the sword that hung low on his hip. Although I couldn’t see them, I know that he was watching me with those dark ancient eyes from underneath the black cowboy hat that cast a shadow over his face.

Waiting!

He was always waiting for the day he could plunge that sword into my heart. I lifted one side of my mouth in the closest thing I could get to a grin.

Not today playboy.

Eventually… but not today.

Turning away from the window my foot kicked her bag. Squatting down I began to pick up her belongings and shoved them back in the bag. I had gotten everything back in when my hand landed on my black t-shirt.

She had my shirt folded up in her bag.

I looked up at the small lump she made in the bed. Why would she have my t-shirt folded up in her bag?

The familiar stranger that always watched me was forgotten as I kicked off my boots, took off my shirt and slid into the bed next to this sweet temptation. I put my hand underneath her and lifted her so that she lay in the circle of my arm, her head on my chest.

She felt good right here. In fact, she felt good in my bed. I made the right decision on making her my bride. This was the closest I had ever come to caring for a woman. Before today, I had never had one in my bed that I was not ready to kick out once I was done.

Yasmin

My eyes were on fire! I opened them and nearly cried from the dryness. I scrambled out of bed. I had to get these contacts out of my eyes… now! I ran toward…

I didn’t know where I ran. I had no idea where I was. For a moment, I stopped and just stood trying to take in my surroundings. I did not recognize the room I was in. I tried not to blink as I looked around. This had to be Gabriel’s room because it smelled like him. Strength and spice, mixed in with whatever laundry soap was used to wash his clothes. My eyes landed on the bed I just got out of.

Slowly I walked back toward it terrified at what I was going to see. I was alone in the room but the pillow next to the one I slept on showed signs that someone laid on it. My hand flew to my mouth.

He slept in the same bed with me?

I had to come back and examine that knowledge later. Right now, I had to get these contacts out, they were killing me. A room this big had to have its own bathroom. I opened the first door I came to, the closet.

I remember this huge space. I also remembered seeing another door through it that I thought could be the bathroom. As I walked through the closet, I spotted my backpack sitting up on one of the shelves that had been built into the wall. My shoes were stacked neatly next to it. I grabbed my belongings and quickly made my way to the door in the back of the massive closet. I flicked on the light, and sucked in my breath taken a-back by the huge beautiful white space. Everything was white; the big claw foot tub and the huge shower with what looked like three big golden showerheads.

I had no time to appreciate just how pretty it was because my eyeballs were getting ready to fall out. I made my way to the sink and looked in the mirror. My dark brown gaze was surrounded by a sea of red.  With hands that shook, I took out
