“Gabe I’m coming in!” Mac called before he opened the door.
I turned my head to look at him, needing to break away from Gabe’s intense gaze. Although Mac wore a smile on his face, his attentive eyes fell on our hands. Mine that was still on Gabriel’s chest and his that still held mine to his chest. He also took in Gabe’s demeanor and instantly took a few steps toward us.
Gabriel had not looked away from me. Although he had not made a move to physically threaten me, his gaze was so very unnerving. I tried to take my hand off his chest, but his tightened, holding it in place.
“You think I don’t know what you have going on in that beautiful head of yours baby?” He whispered. I turned to look back at him and there was a deadly grin on his face.
“You think I don’t know that you still have the mind to try and escape me?”
“Gabe, one of those Arabian princes you played last year just invited you to his game. He wants a chance to win some of his money back!” Mac spoke as if he didn’t see what was happening with his friend. As if he didn’t feel the tension in the air.
Ignoring him completely, Gabe wrapped his free arm around my waist pulling me closer, lowering his head so that his warm breath caressed my ear. I closed my eyes as shivers raced through me. What was wrong with me? This man was so deadly, even now violence poured off him in waves.
And yet, with one caress he still had the power to make my body crave him.
“It’s okay baby.” He whispered. He let go of my hand and wrapped both of his strong arms around me, pressing my soft body against his hard one.
“It’s okay, soon you’ll know without the shadow of a doubt that you’re my wife. Soon you won’t be able to do anything without me, because I’m going to be in your blood. I’m going to be in your very DNA, and you won’t be able to imagine life without me.” As if he had a secret to tell him, Mac wrapped his arm around Gabe’s neck, pulling him away from me.
“Come on bruh, that table is hot. Let’s go win some money!” Gabe allowed him to pull him away, but his deadly gaze was still centered on me. That grin more of a threat than his frown. When they got by the door, he pressed his lips together and kissed the air in my direction. The look on his face was savage.
My hand flew to my throat. He was past psychotic. He was a damn heathen! How he managed to be so threatening with his friends arm around his neck pulling him back out the room and a grin on his face was amazing.
“Hey Yas!” Mac’s lady friend said peeking her head around the door. She told me her name last night, but I forgot it.
“Come on girl, let’s go win some money!” She pulled me out the room and into the elevator with everyone else. Gabe stood leaning against the opposite wall facing me. He stared at me, causing everyone else in the big elevator to fade to black. I swallowed not able to hide the fact that his look was a bit intimidating.
And then that one sided grin appeared on his handsome face again. And like before, it was more threatening than his frown.
I looked away from him, instead looking out the glass window of the elevator to the bottom floor where the Casino was alive with activity. However, the elevator came to a stop before we reached the bottom.
“Ladies…” Mac said wrapping his arm around Gabe’s neck again. “We have an appointment to keep on this level. Go on downstairs and have a good time, just charge all ya’ll games to the rooms.” Gabe still watched me like a predator. Mac went to pull him off the elevator, but he didn’t move.
“Gabe, you need air bruh!” Mac told him, taking his arm from around his neck, knowing that it was useless to try and move Gabe when he didn’t want to be moved. Mac stepped out of the elevator holding the doors open as half of Gabe’s men followed him off.
However, Gabe still leaned against the opposite wall, in no rush to join them. His intense gaze was still on me.
“Gabe! Walk it off!” Mac insisted.
Gabe stood then, and instead of heading out the elevator, he crossed it to stand in front of me. And when I tell you everybody got out his way because they too could feel the violence coming off this man. I am not lying.
He looked down at me, but I continued to look out the windows of the elevator, choosing to take the coward’s way out. Lifting his hand, he gently turned my chin with his finger so that our gaze connected.
I looked at him with angry eyes, not appreciating this intimating thing he was doing. The man played with my head like nobody’s business!
“Smile beautiful, the world is yours!” He spoke so only I heard him, before leaning down wrapping his arms around me, hugging me close. I hesitated for only a moment before wrapping my arms around his neck hugging him back. On their own will my eyes drifted closed.
He felt so good and smelt even better. I couldn’t shake the feeling that here in his strong arms was the safest place on earth. But I also knew that it was the most dangerous place as well.
One arm still wrapped around my waist, he used his other hand to lift my chin before lowering his head and gently touching his lips to mine. This kiss was not like his other kisses. It was sweet and soft. He kissed me as if I was a delicate flower. I didn’t know he was capable of such gentleness.
And then he let me go, and my body silently protested
