“You still alive, baby?” He asked her as he crawled back up to her. Cora didn’t answer him. She took his face between both hands and pulled him down for a kiss. Liam’s lips tasted of her musk, but she didn’t care. Cora wrapped her legs around Liam’s waist and reached down to take him firmly in hand and guide him to her entrance. Liam gently probed her opening before reaching for her hand and lacing their fingers.
“I love you, Cora.” He said, before he thrust slowly into her. Cora gasped at his confession and the feel of him slowly stretching her. He made love to her slowly and gently looking down at her the whole time. They couldn’t see each other’s eyes, but they gazed at each other as their bodies mated. She felt his love in his touch. The gentleness of his thrusts. It had always been there she just had never realized it until now. He had always loved her. As she did him. Cora held him close never wanting this perfect moment to end. All too soon, he came and collapsed on the bed beside her.
It was several moments before Liam had the energy to hop out of bed and pick the cloth back up, that was now cold and cleaned Cora up, before throwing the washcloth in the bathroom, and rejoined her in bed. They still had a lot to discuss and work out, but now that she admitted she was his and she loved him, he was never walking away from an argument again. He couldn’t live without her. The rest would come. He still worried that Alejandro was on the loose. The man could be right outside the walls or halfway back to Panama by now. Liam wanted to keep Cora here, so she would be better protected, but he doubted she would be willing to stay. She was not one to sit idle, and he needed to be closer to town, so he could get to his sister faster in case of an emergency. He wanted to go back to Cora’s home, but his instincts were screaming at him to stay. What should he do? If he told Cora to stay, she would insist on going home. If he told her it was because his instincts were telling him to stay, she could just brush it off and sway him to leave. Either way, she would try to go home. So, what to do?
Chapter Eighteen
“What are you thinking about so hard?” Cora asked half asleep. It may be the middle of the day, but after all the stress and fighting, and the past hour of making love, she was exhausted.
Liam gathered her close and just breathed her in. He never wanted to move. She fit him perfectly. In and out of bed. They both had a temper and could be stubborn, but they both also loved fiercely and protected their own. “Nothing important.” He said and kissed the top of her head. “Just go to sleep.” Tomorrow’s problems would come soon enough.
Cora wouldn’t be ignored. She sat up and looked down at him. “Tell me. No more secrets, remember?”
Shit, he had promised her. Maybe if she knew the truth, she wouldn’t try to leave tomorrow. “We couldn’t find Alejandro.”
He let the words sit between them and allow her to absorb them. It didn’t take her long to understand their meaning. “So, this isn’t over yet. Does that mean we have to stay here?”
Liam would never want to force Cora to do something she didn’t want to. “I’d like to, but I leave the decision up to you.”
Cora flopped back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. “What do you want to do?”
“I would like us to stay. More eyes and better protection here.”
Cora remained quiet as if in thought. “I suppose we could stay a few more days,” Cora said slowly, as if unsure.
Liam turned to his side and faced Cora. “Are you sure? I don’t want you miserable.”
“I’ll be fine. I understand the whole safety in numbers. Aaron does have an insane security system here. I feel safe here. Besides, I have you to distract me.”
Liam liked the sounds of that. “I will make it my personal mission to see you properly distracted.”
Cora snuggled close to Liam, hoping sleep would claim her. She had been so on edge the past few days, but her mind refused to be silent. “What if I disable the security on Alejandro’s accounts?”
She felt Liam tense under her. “What do you mean?”
Cora sat up and propped her head on his chest. “You said you can’t find him, but a lot of people are looking for him. Without security to protect his investments-”
“It would be easy for someone to hack him and rob.” Liam finished for her. “It’s risky.”
“But worth it if it
