mind only continues to make me feel worse and worse as the night goes on until I am thankfully pulled under into unconsciousness where I no longer have to think about it, or them.

As promised Nico sends some men over to the hotel in search of something I know they will not find. As expected they don’t end up finding the hair clip there. I know exactly where it is, where to find it, though I refuse to admit to Nico that I know. Wanting him to come out and admit to me himself.

The next two days I can feel my mood plummeting. Each day that passes by I grow more and more resentful as my mind jumps to all sorts of conclusions. Has he seen her again? Was he spending time with her during the day today?

I know he has begun to pick up on my sour attitude when around me lately and is struggling to look past it. On his way home that evening he calls, demanding me to get ready to take me out to dinner. Clearly having had enough of my attitude shift over the last forty eight hours.

I’m not really in the mood to go out so it takes extra long to get ready. Dragging my ass to get dressed and done up, because why the hell should I. We don’t speak on the way to the restaurant as I look out the window. My mind filled with doubts. Doubts over my thoughts and doubts over Nico. Confused as I am not sure what to believe. His words or what I clearly saw.

As we pull up he gets out, helping me out of the car, before he leads me into the restaurant. Upon being seated he orders me a glass of wine, giving me a moment to look over the menu. Trying to find something that sounds even remotely appetizing, even though I am not hungry, but knowing he will be angry if I refuse to eat. I feel his eyes on me as I do, assessing me.

“Liliana, what is going on?” Annoyance ringing in his voice.

And there it is. The conversation I do not want to be having. Let alone in public.

“Nothing. Why do you ask?” I try to force the clipped tone out of my voice. His brows pinch, before narrowing his eyes slightly as he picks up on my attitude again.

His own tone drops a few pitches growing thick with displeasure. “Liliana I don’t.-” His sentence is cut short by the sudden ringing of his phone. Looking down at the screen, he answers it. Moving his eyes back to watch me as he speaks. “What do you want?” His voice laced with anger and irritation. He clenches his jaw at whatever words are spoken on the other end. “WHAT?” He roars into the speaker. Gathering the attention of others around us. Standing up abruptly his chair scrapes against the floor before he motions for me to follow him without speaking his command. Getting up I follow as he walks back out of the restaurant to the valet.

“What do you mean it's on fire?” Pausing. “Are you fucking kidding me. I need you to get men there now. I want it cleaned up before the cops arrive.” Listening to what is spoken on the other side. “I don’t give a fuck! Make it happen.”

A moment later our car pulls around the corner and parks in front of us. Leaning through the window I overhear him speaking to my guards

“Take her home. I need to leave. You are to go straight home, no where else.” He instructs them as if I am not there. Turning he finally acknowledges me behind him.

“Our shipment was attacked tonight. I need to leave to take care of this mess. We will finish our discussion at home when I return.” Turning as another car pulls up behind mine he gets in. Not giving me a second glance as they drive away. Leaving me standing on the curb alone.

NICOLI

Three Days Earlier

I’m relieved when we finally have the house back to ourselves. Having Gianna and Daveon here constantly this last week has grated on every last one of my nerves. I mean fuck the woman is insufferable but add Daveon to the mix and it becomes outright unbearable. I contemplated shooting Daveon once or twice just to get them to shut the fuck up.

My reprieve is short lived though when I don’t get to spend more time with Liliana after the wedding. Needing to get back to business so I can pin down a few things in order to leave and take her on our honeymoon. Despite being upset at me having to leave her again so soon, I can tell she is trying to reign in her excitement over our upcoming trip. Which if we are to go soon, I need to get everything prepared for us to leave. Including setting up and ensuring everything with this next shipment goes smoothly.

I head out to the club to discuss the details with my men. With Daveon still gone, taking Gianna home. Ciro is here taking his place for it. We go over all of the details including time frames and names of who and where they should be. I brief Marina on the routes and transfer information so she can get with Elijah to clear and ensure no cops will be around during it. By the time we are done and everyone is on the same page, I am ready for a drink.

The main floor of the club is now open and filled with bodies if the loud noise floating down the stairs is any indication. I head up to the bar to get myself a drink after dismissing my men for the night. Coming up to the bar I shrug off my jacket laying it over
