I placed a few berries in the middle with some lemon and took a bite. I moaned as I swallowed it and looked up to see both Jay and Haz staring at me. Fuck. I flushed red and bit into it again. “Really good Alf, thanks.” I wiped the corner of my mouth and watched him nod. I turned quickly and made my way up the stairs.

I lay in my bed for the afternoon. I scrolled through my Facebook and sighed. My mind was plagued by him. I shook it and heard a knock at the door. I braced myself for him but it wasn’t him it was Chlo. She smiled and I waved her in.

“Come in.” She closed the door behind her softly and came to sit with me on the bed. I had questions that I wanted answering. “Can I ask you something?” She nodded.

“Sure?” She faced me on the bed and I closed my eyes.

“What’s their business? What do they do?” She shook her head.

“Logistics.” She was blunt and I frowned.

“Where did you all appear from? I’ve never seen you around here before?” She smiled softly and shrugged.

“We travel a lot. We always come home though. Here. Here, with Alfie is home.” Her words seemed genuine.

“Why do you all live here?” Her frown grew deeper.

“Alfie has always been a great friend. He’s an honest man and he helps people who need it most. He’d do it even if he didn’t have all this money.” She gestured around the room at all of the expensive soft furnishings and I smiled at her.

“That’s really sweet.” She nodded.

“Can I ask you a question?” She raised her eyebrows in my direction and my chest thudded. Oh shit she’s going to bring up Haz. I nodded. “Why were you wearing Haz’s t-shirt from last night this morning?” Her tone was teasing, she wasn’t angry. I hadn’t thought of an excuse. I simply opened my mouth and closed it again before I heard her chuckle. “Just know that everything isn’t as it seems. Neither of them are perfect men. They both have their downfalls. Jay has warned him away from you. Numerous times.” I rolled my eyes and watched as she lay down next to me.

“Why though? I’m not his?” She smirked.

“He wishes you were though.” I laughed slightly and shook my head.

“Never going to happen.” She tapped my shoulder and I glanced at her pretty tanned face.

“Never say never it might happen but only once.” My eyes narrowed. Did she know? I shook my head and relaxed back on the bed.

“I was thinking of my friends, they haven’t met any of you really and they love a good party well gathering. I was thinking maybe of inviting them here at your next one?” I now had verbal diarrhea. She nodded.

“That would be nice. I always liked them when I was at school. They always looked out for you.” She grinned and I nodded.

“They did.” I smiled at the memory of them throwing water at Ben when he broke it off with me. “You know they threw water at my ex from my bedroom window when he broke up with me.” I chuckled and heard her join in too. “Where is Missy I thought you’d be with her?” She smirked at me and shrugged.

“Apparently she had a huge argument with Haz this morning.” She looked at me over her glasses and I nodded.

“That doesn’t sound good.” I swallowed the lump that was growing in my throat and watched her smirk. I cringed internally and closed my eyes.

“You’re a proper shit liar Av.” I bit my lip and opened my eyes to look at the television. She knows.

I waited outside of the uni campus on our fountain for a while. I hadn’t changed the plans with them tonight would be normal. We would eat with mum and then I would take them to meet Chloe. I messed with my phone and felt it buzz.

Unknown: I can pick you up at 8?

Avaya: Who’s this?

Unknown: Who do you think it is?

Avaya: Not funny…

Unknown: It’s Haz.

Unknown: Pick you up at 8?

Avaya: Ok. I’ll send you my address

Unknown: Don’t worry I already know it. See you at 8.

He already knew my address? How? I frowned at my phone and watched as Soph and Nance came skipping towards where I was sitting. They had obviously had a great day. I waved at them and they both took their seats next to me.

“Where have you been?” Nancy’s eyebrows danced as she questioned me.

“I’m glad you asked because I’d like you to come and meet them.” Soph clapped her hands together and I chuckled

“You’ve fucked him haven’t you!?” I threw my hands over her mouth and shook my head.

“No god no!” She laughed and I frowned. I desperately wanted to tell them that I’d finally lost the v card and now I get why they’re always going on and on about it but I couldn’t. I released my hands and watched as she stood up.

“So plan?” I laughed at her statement and began to walk with them back towards my house.

“Normal? Eat tea with mum but then my friend is picking us up at 8 and we can go there.” Nance laughed and hooked her arm in mine. God I’ve missed you both. My brain was no longer in a mess. I could think clearly around them. There were no secrets. I squeezed her arm in mine and she smiled down at me.

“You look different?” She examined my face and I blushed. Surely she can’t tell?

“Do I?”

“Mhm.” We continued to walk and I listened to them chatting about their day of doom. They both hated Monday’s. I loved them. It was my only day off.

Mum came home around half past 6. We had spent ages cooking tea. Nothing went right. Soph had burnt the pasta twice and Nance had chopped her finger when she tried to cut an onion. I laid out the table and started to dish up. My mum
