“How did you . . .”
“Your baby needs you to keep your strength,” she declares as she goes to talk over me.
“Baby?” Breaker whispers in bewilderment as he looks from Ela to me.
“That can’t be we . . .” Oh shit.
I wasn’t on birth control when we started having sex, and I hadn’t even thought about it since. Doing the math in my head, I realize I should have started my period this past week.
Shit.
“How do you know?” I ask Ela.
“Because I saw you holding a beautiful baby boy in your arms,” she states in a matter of fact voice.
“You what?” Glancing from her to Breaker then back again.
“It’s complicated to explain, ma tendre. Just know if Ela says it, it means it’s true and you need to call and make an appointment. This would explain why you’ve been so tired this week,” Breaker says, grinning at me.
Unable to think of anything else to say, I place a hand over my stomach. “We’re gonna have a baby.”
“Looks that way, Spitfire,” he murmurs leaning forward to place a gentle kiss against my lips.
“I’m going to just leave these for you. From what I’ve seen sweetheart, these are going to be your best friend for the next several months. I’d keep them on hand in here and at home,” Ela says, sweetly.
“Thank you, Ela,” I whisper, still in awe by this announcement and pretty much finding out Ela is a psychic. Most people would think she’s just being crazy, but for some reason I believe what she says. It all adds up.
“No problem, sweetheart. Between you and Tiny these men are going to have their hands full. It’ll be nice having little ones around here. My daughter just had a little one about two months ago and is pregnant.” At each of her words my mind seems to go into shock.
Holy mother of all hotness these men must have super sperm or something.
“Does Tiny know?” I ask, baffled that she’d told me.
“Oh, yeah, she knows. Chains was freaking out earlier demanding she go to the doctor when she was puking this morning. Let’s just say, until his baby is born, he’s not going to be easy to be around,” Ela giggles.
Blinking at the woman, I’m speechless.
“Anyways, I’m gonna go back into the kitchen. I’m thinking about making my Cajun chicken and rice soup for dinner,” she announces as she walks toward the door. At the mere mention of the food, I cover my mouth and head for the bathroom barely making it in time before I puke again.
Fuck me, this is going to suck if this is what I have to look forward to for the next several months. I only hope that it doesn’t go longer than that.
Groaning into the toilet, I close my eyes as Breaker joins me and places a cool cloth to my neck.
“It’s okay, ma tendre. Just think of it this way. First, you’re not the only one going through this. Second, at the end of this you’ll have a baby in your arms that is made from you and me. And just so you know I fuckin’ love you,” he murmurs.
“You know you have shit timing with telling me you love me,” I grumble as I lift my head to glare at him.
“Well, I’d intended to tell you last night but you’d passed out on me,” he grins, lifting the cloth he’d still had a hold of at my neck, he wipes it across my mouth. “If you’re done in here, let’s get you back in bed. You need some rest and I’ve got some shit to get done. I gotta get shit ready before two of your brothers get here.” My eyes widen as I let him help me up.
Did he just say my brothers were coming here?
Oh god no.
The last few times I’d spoken to them they’d still been pissed I’d gotten married without them being here. My mom though, she was upset but she’d at least understood and was fine because of the fact I was happy. Shocked the hell out of me that she didn’t scream at me.
“Why are they coming here?” I ask, quietly.
Instead of answering me right away, Breaker helps me back into the bed without letting me brush my teeth. Once he has me settled in the middle of the bed he climbs up and stretches out bracing himself up on one arm while placing the other on my stomach.
“Reason they’re coming, mon chou, is due to Miles Granger going underground and they think he’s found you,” he says, calmly.
“What?” I whisper feeling as if my breath had been stolen from my lungs.
“Don’t worry, Nora. Chains has already called a lockdown. None of the ol’ ladies are allowed to leave the clubhouse. I’m gonna go grab you some stuff later on when I have a chance, right now though I’ve got to get some shit done before your brothers get here. I want you to rest, relax, and if you need me, call me.” From the tone in his voice I know there’s no room for argument. Which thankfully I don’t have the energy to even try to right now.
Nodding my head, I lean into him. “Okay, I’ll rest and see if I can’t find a doctor, I can make an appointment to go see,” I murmur.
“Sounds good, Spitfire,” Breaker grins and leans down to kiss me but I turn before he can kiss me and cover my mouth to which he gives me the brow lift.
“I just puked my guts out, again. I didn’t get to brush my teeth before you brought me back out here. I’m not about to let you kiss me till I do brush my teeth. There’s a huge difference in morning breath which I can handle because I can’t not get up without kissing you. You’re addicting, but when it comes to
