“Thanks, brother,” I murmur.
“No problem we’re family, it’s what we do. If I had a woman, you’d all do the same for me,” Fuse states.
“Fuck, yeah, we would. Now let’s quit the heart to heart shit before one of us grows a vagina,” Chains mutters. “Do we have anything else for now?”
“Nothing else. When I do though I’ll let you know,” Fuse says.
“Alright, cool deal, I need to go to the warehouse to check inventory then go by the house and grab some stuff for Nora.” I state as I lift my beer off the table and down the rest of the contents in the bottle.
“Alright, get Brake, Lynch, and Throttle to go with you,” Chains orders.
“You got it,” I say as I pull out my phone and shoot a mass text to the three of them telling them to meet me at our bikes.
Making my way to the door, I decide to make a detour and go back to the room and check on Nora. As I open the door to my room, I find her just waking up.
“Hey, Spitfire, you have a good nap?” I ask as I close the door behind me.
“Yeah, I don’t feel as horrible now,” she says giving me a small smile.
“That’s good. I was just coming to check on you before I left. I’ve got to head out for a bit. Do you need anything while I’m out? I’m going to stop at the house and pick up some stuff for you on the way back,” I say.
“Wait, why are you picking stuff up and bringing it back here for me,” she asks in confusion.
“Told you earlier, ma tendre, Miles went underground. Probably knows you’re here and Chains has called a lockdown. Tiny, Ela, and you aren’t going anywhere unless it’s completely necessary,” I say, and I can see the confusion on her face turning from irritation to anger with each word.
“Great, so you all are going to take yet another choice from me by not letting me leave the clubhouse,” she mutters.
“Nora, it’s not like that and you know it. This is about the safety of not just you but our child. What if you were at the house and no one was close enough to get to you in time, you’d be lost to me and I couldn’t live with that thought,” I state as I get close enough to pull her to me.
“It still would have been nice to have you talk to me about this before making a decision regarding me,” she says, sarcastically.
“Let’s get one thing crystal clear, Spitfire. When it comes to your safety, our child’s safety, I will do whatever the fuck I have to, to make sure you are not hurt in any way. Now as for your choice being taken away. That was not in any way me trying to control your life. Now lose the attitude and kiss me, I’ve gotta get goin’,” I state.
Huffing and still pissed, my woman still gives me a kiss. Not as scorching as it normally is but at least she kissed me.
“I love you, mon amour. Don’t be pissed at me for doing something I need to do to protect you,” I murmur before planting another hot and heavy kiss on her.
Lifting my mouth from hers, I press a kiss to her forehead and leave her to fume. I know she’s pissed, thinking I’ve done the same as her brothers have. And in some way if you think about it, I have; however, I’ll do whatever the fuck I have to in order to keep Nora safe. She’s not just my wife and ol’ lady, she’s the motherfuckin’ air I need to breathe easy.
Chapter Twelve
Nora
It’s been hours since Breaker left and I’m still fuming over the fact I’m being put on lockdown without it being discussed with me. Sure, I know from Emerson and the rest of them what lockdown means. And why the guys do this.
I understand it, I do.
What I don’t understand is why take my choices from me. If he would have come to me and been like, ‘Nora we need to put the club on lockdown to keep you and the rest of the women safe.’ I wouldn’t have gotten pissed.
I’m not stupid and would have easily agreed with him without the attitude.
Okay, so maybe I’m being pissed for no reason. I just have never liked being left out of decisions regarding me.
I shouldn’t have gotten worked up the way I did earlier. I want to rule out the fact I snap so easily, when it comes to Miles, it is due to him creeping me the hell out but that’s not the case. Nope, I was raised by a woman who was independent and relied on only herself to do everything for four kids after Dad died.
A knock on Breakers door draws me out of my head before it can go down the road I had been going down.
Getting up off the bed, I move to the door and open it up. A groan escapes me at the sight of who’s standing there.
Dee.
“What do you want, Dee?” I snap.
“I want what’s mine back,” she sneers as she steps directly into my space.
“I don’t have anything of yours,” I say crossing my arms over my chest.
“That’s where you’re wrong, bitch.” she smiles and moves quicker than I thought she could in her mile high, knock off, two-dollar stripper shoes. One minute she’s a foot away, the next she’s covering my mouth with a cloth. “You took the man I wanted away from me. And now I’m taking him back and giving you to the man who wants you,” she spits into my face.
I become lightheaded and unable to fight her as whatever she had on
