Nick."

I walked into my room and closed the door as I crawled under my covers after taking my clothes off and getting into my pajamas. I could still feel Nick's lips on my body. His hands on places he or anyone else has never touched before (minus Mark) were still warm. The whole event sent chills down my spine. I couldn't believe how close we had been to going so far. The thought of it made me feel warmer and strangely happy. All these new feelings were making me confused, but I couldn't stop smiling.

Nick

We didn't have school the next day because the power was still out along with over two feet of snow covering the ground. Rachel was walking around the house in a turtleneck with a sweatshirt over it and jeans, along with the fleece blanket wrapped around her as she read on the couch curled up into her own little cocoon.

I sat there on the other side of the couch looking at her or out the window with the actions of last night replaying in my head, almost like they were happening still. From the scents of her hair to the fragrance of her soap on her pale skin as I kissed her, it was all still fresh in my mind while I remembered how her skin felt smooth under my finger tips. We had never been close like that before. It was hard to think of anything else and I was wondering whether it was the same for Rachel. She hadn’t spoken much this morning and I was pretty sure that she had been on the same page in her book for the past half hour.

"How long do you think until we get the power back?"

I glanced over at her, trying to figure out how she wasn't hot in all those layers. Was the power really the only thing she wanted to talk about? We almost had sex and she wanted to talk about the power? She finally told me she loved me and things had moved further than ever.

"I hope that the power won't be out much longer."

She turned her head to gaze out the window and tightened the blanket around her. I was about to make a suggestion about body heat, but was curious if she would accept the offer or just blush. Then out of nowhere the TV turned on full blast, along with all the lights in the house. Rachel and I jumped from the sudden change and noise.

"Well, Rachel, I guess we know when the power will be back."

She got up and turned the lights off as the bright sun poured through our windows.

A couple of days later at school the storm seemed to be the only thing the school talked about, on top of the delayed opening. When everyone talked about it around Rachel, I could see her blush ever so slightly, with a small smile on her rosy pink lips. This meant she did think of that night. I wasn't the only one thinking about our hands and lips on each other.

During Science the loud speaker started up again.

"The following students must report to the main office." Then the lady went on for five names which were all pronounced wrong. "Will Rachel March report to the Principal's office?"

Dread overcame me. He knew something, he must have because why else would Rachel be called down to the Principal's office? He must have been waiting a while to freak us out or see if we would turn ourselves in or worse that someone would rat us out. We would never turn ourselves in nor would someone turn against us to do that. At least I would hope no one would turn us in. I hope he wouldn't do anything to Rachel. I hadn't realized at first that my hands had turned into fists at my sides.

"Nick! Nick pay attention. Now how would you solve this problem?" My Science teacher stood next to an equation on the board, waiting for me to answer.

The rest of the day dragged on because I wanted to know what happened in the office. He must have found out. The fact that Rachel was only in my morning classes meant that I couldn't figure it out until after school. I got stuck behind these huge, slow seniors so there was no chance I was going to see her at the lockers.

When I got to my locker it was only Mark and some girl Rachel talked to, who I think was Willow. Mark just took a quick glance at me. We hadn’t really talked since that night at his party and I wasn't about to forgive him anytime soon. I just grabbed my book bag and headed home. Mark didn't try to get my attention.

I opened the door to see Rachel lying on her stomach on the couch writing in a binder. Her hair was now in a bun with a few pencils and pens sticking out of it. I just smiled at the weird sight as she turned to see me.

"Hey."

"Why were you called down to the principal's?" It came out of my mouth too early. Her smile disappeared and she sat up.

"Um, some teacher reported me for not wearing my ring again."

"That's all?" I asked, really looking at her trying to figure out if she was telling the truth or not.

She stared at me and tilted her head a little. "Nick I have better things to lie about than that." She just gave me a big smile and went back to her writing.

I walked to her and sat on the edge of the couch next to Rachel. A few seconds later something hit me. "Wait a second. What do you mean you've better things to lie about? You lie to me."

She didn't glance up at me as I looked at the back of her head. "I lie to everyone what makes you special?" She started to laugh.

"Oh, you think that's funny
