off. Grabbing a shirt, I pulled it over my head. Heading into the hall, I pulled my jacket and cut on followed by my gloves. I never went anywhere without them and I knew that question was coming. If not today, Kaitlyn would ask me about it. I knew we would fight about it because there was no way, on God’s green earth, that I was touching her without them. Putting my phone and wallet in my pocket, I grabbed my keys and locked up.

After getting my ride out, it didn’t take me long to get to the diner. Parking by the doors, I put the kickstand down and got off. Heading to the entry, I pulled the door open and scanned the diner for her. I was running late so I figured she was here and had grabbed a table by now. Seeing her in a booth in the back, I slid into the opposite side from her.

“Sorry I’m late. Didn’t mean to keep you.”

“You’re fine. I haven’t been here long myself.”

“Someone kept me awake all night with their questions.”

“Oh no. You should really tell them you need your beauty sleep next time.” My lips curled into a smirk.

“You think I need beauty sleep?” She went to open her mouth but stopped herself.

“I’m not answering that. Don’t need to dig myself out of a hole today.” I shook my head as she picked up the menu to have a look. I was pretty sure that it was just something to do though because working here, she would know the menu back to front. When a waitress came over to us, she quickly glanced at Kaitlyn before looking at me. As soon as she saw me, the back straightened, the boobs were pushed out and a seductive sweet, southern drawl came out.

“What can I get for ya, handsome?” I tried not to roll my eyes.

“Coffee, Cowboy breakfast, bacon and pancakes please. Kait?”

“Pancakes and coffee please.”

“Oh, Kaitlyn! I didn’t realize that was you.”

“How could you when you are too busy making eyes at Kane.”

“Oh I wasn’t… I didn’t-”

“How about you just go put our order in please?”

“Of course.” She took the menu from us and disappeared. I couldn’t help but notice the jealous streak in her.

“I’m gonna hear about that later,” Kaitlyn muttered under her breath. I couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Oh I am sure you can handle it.”

“I can. Just not sure I want to be making enemies one week into a new job.”

“Good point. You best behave then hadn’t ya?” She made a face which made me laugh again.

“Yeah laugh it up, buddy.” It wasn’t long before our coffees were put in front of us.

“Is coffee a must after a night of drinking?”

“Coffee is a must if I am breathing. I can’t start my day without one.” Deciding to keep that little piece of information tucked away in the back of my head, I took a drink of my coffee. I didn’t add milk, creamer, or any of that shit. Mine was just black. “I don’t know how you can drink it like that.” Kaitlyn made another face as she took a sip of hers.

“I don’t drink it that often.”

“So how do you cure a hangover?”

“Hair of the dog.”

“No matter what time of the day?”

“There could be worse things, but yeah. Normally I wake up, roll out of bed and am at the clubhouse with the guys.” She took a drink of her coffee and focused way too hard on it after. There was a question there, or something she wanted to say but she was holding back. “What is it?”

“What’s what?”

“The question in your head right now or whatever it is that you aren’t saying.”

“How did you know?”

“You are far too interested in your coffee for a normal person.”

“Who said I was normal?”

“Well no one is, it’s just the depth of crazy that varies. You have something on your mind though.” She chewed on her lip for a minute, still focused on her coffee. Unable to look me in the eye. Fuck this must be bad.

“Are club whores a thing?”

“We aren’t priests, sweetheart. We have needs and will relieve them anyway we can.” She nodded and looked out the window beside us. I don’t know what it was about her reaction but what did she think was gonna happen? I lie to her? That’s not in my nature. Before I could say anything, our food was set down in front of us and I was thankful for the distraction. I had just taken a bite when she looked back at me again.

“What happens if you meet someone?” I shrug.

“It hasn’t happened for me so I don’t know.” I knew after this, I wouldn’t be touching another club whore again. I wasn’t about to show my hand now though.

“Why did you ask me here today?”

“You said you wanted to see me.”

“Were you hoping that I would wake up and change my mind?”

“Kaitlyn, you wanted to play the twenty questions, not me. If you didn’t want to know the answer about who I fuck, then don’t ask the question.” Before I knew what was happening, her knife and fork were on her plate and she was up and out of the booth. I watched as she walked out the door. Well fuck.

(Kaitlyn)

I had to get out of there. I couldn’t handle the jealousy that was coursing through me right now and I had no right to be. Kane and I weren’t even friends let alone anything more. I barely knew the guy! I was losing my mind; I was sure of it. Of course he was gonna fuck around. I was sure he did a lot more shit that I didn’t want to know the answers to. Why the fuck did I have to ask that question? I knew it wasn’t going to be good. I fucking knew it which was why I stewed on it. I was such an idiot and now, he probably thought I
