I chewed on my lip and watched my phone waiting for his reply. The three dreaded dots appeared and disappeared a few times before he finally replied.
Kane: Fine. You start. Make them good.
Me: What did you mean when you said you were tainted?
Kane: I’m not a good person, Kaitlyn. I am the VP of an MC. That should tell you all you need to know. What brings you to Bliss Creek?
Me: You said you look after the town. You can’t be that bad. Do you have an old lady?
Kane: I’m not answering until you answer mine.
Me: Fine! I was hoping to get a few questions deep before you asked that one. I had to leave Alpine before my father married me off to some business associate of his.
Kane: No, I don’t have and old lady. We don’t just give anyone that title. It’s a ride or die thing. Not interested in getting married?
Me: No, I am. I just don’t want to be forced into it. I’m a romantic at heart and don’t believe in divorce or not marrying for love. Are your parents still together?
Kane: I like to believe they are. My dad died when I was a teenager and my mom died not long after him. Do your parents know you left?
Me: Aww I am sorry to hear that. I didn’t mean to bring that up. I’m sorry. They would by now. They don’t know where I am though. I am trying to stay off the radar.
Kane: Why would you need to stay off the radar?
Me: My father has money and no one goes against him. He would hire someone to come and take me back one way or another. Amy was worried you might be one of them. Have you always lived in Bliss Creek?
Kane: No, not always. I left after my dad died and wandered around for a bit before making Bliss Creek home. I can assure you, I’m not a thug for hire. I have better things to do with my time.
Me: Oh really? Like what?
Kane: Like club business. That counts as a question too by the way.
We went back and forth until we both had one question left. We had talked about all the things I had wanted to know but I still wanted more. I wanted to see him again.
Kane: Last question. What’s it gonna be?
Me: I want to see you.
Kane: That’s not a question.
Me: No, it’s not. Doesn’t take away from the fact though. Can you come back over?
Kane: It’s late Kaitlyn, get some sleep.
My phone went silent. There were no dots, nothing. Had I played this all wrong? Read it wrong? I could feel tears stinging my eyes. Closing them before they could fall, I took a deep breath. As I laid there, feeling like an idiot, my phone went off again. I slowly opened my eyes and saw another message from Kane.
Kane: If you still want to see me, meet me for breakfast tomorrow morning at the Diner at ten A.M. Ask your last question then.
Getting out of bed, I put my phone on charge. I was going to sleep then I was waking up to re-read that message to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating. Now, I just had to think of my final question and as he said with my first one, it had better be a good one.
201
(Kane)
I don’t know what the fuck I was doing. I had completely lost my mind playing twenty questions with Kaitlyn. Sure I got the answers I needed about her father and God help him if he tried to send someone here to take her back home. They were in for a rude shock. I wanted to travel to Doucheville just to make sure of it but the last thing Blaze needed was me going rogue right now. He had enough on his plate with the others causing hysteria around Bliss Creek. What was even stupider of me was not going to her. She said the damn words but I kept my distance. That clawing feeling inside of me was back and I knew right now, the beast was ready to fight me on this. The truth was, being in public was one thing, but in private, I don’t think I would be able to stop myself from giving in to my animalistic nature. Going to her house alone, at night, there is no way I could stop myself from fucking her.
Taking my own advice and going to sleep, I woke up the next day to a message from Kaitlyn saying she would see me at ten. Seeing the time, I rolled out of bed with a groan and went to shower. Going into my bathroom and taking a piss, I turned the hot water on in the shower and pushed my sweatpants down. Stepping in, I let the water wash over me and tried to relax. We both still had one question to ask and I spent my time in the shower wracking my brain to try and think of one. The only one that came to mind was ‘will you let me bite you?’ but I knew that would not go down well at all. I knew about her dad, why she was here, where she was from, her family. I needed to know more about her though. Is she the type of woman who could handle being the old lady of an MC member? Could she be entrusted with our secrets? Could she be for me, what Glory is for Blaze? Deciding not to let myself get worked up over it just yet and that today was just breakfast, I ran over my body with soap and washed it off before turning off the hot water and stepping out. Grabbing my towel, I wrapped it around my waist before walking over to my drawers. Pulling out a pair of jeans, I slipped them on after drying myself
