“Are we really going to divide this stuff up?” asks Jordan to Jon.
Jon looks at Jordan with a questioning expression.
“I just think we did the work and we should keep this stuff for ourselves,” says Jordan to Jon as he grabs a box of items from the trunk of Jon’s electric car.
“We divide up the goods for everyone here,” says Jon to Jordan.
Jordan places the box he had in his hands on the driveway next to Jon’s electric car.
Jon grabs a duffel bag that is filled with bottles of medication and other useful items and places it on the ground next to him.
Jordan and Jon take the last boxes out of Jon’s electric car and Jordan doesn’t know what to do with the items now.
Jon looks at Jordan and says, “I know it’s tempting to keep everything for yourself, but we share what we get with everyone here.”
Jordan doesn’t say anything to Jon and just looks at him.
Jon can feel the tension and awkwardness with Jordan and doesn’t like it.
“But they don’t know what we got, and we can keep a lot of the good stuff for us,” says Jon to Jordan with a smile.
Jordan smiles and replies, “Now we’re talking.”
Jon and Jordan go through the bottles, items, and other goods that they got on their run today and take what they want.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Phil knocks on my front door.
Lauren answers our front door and Phil asks, “Is Ryan here?”
“He is next door in his dad’s old house,” answers Lauren.
“Okay, thank you,” replies Phil and then Phil is about to walk away, but he stops and looks at Lauren and asks, “What happened today?”
“We are fine, we made it out alive,” quickly answers Lauren.
Phil notices that Lauren is shook from what happened and replies, “I’m glad, but are you okay?”
Lauren puts on a brave face and answers Phil, “Yeah, I’ll be okay.”
“If you need someone to talk to, Nicole and I are always here. Please remember that,” says Phil to Lauren.
“Thank you, Phil,” replies Lauren.
Phil walks away and Lauren asks, “Remember when that woman had her knife to my throat?”
Phil stops walking, turns around, and replies to Lauren, “Yeah it was right here in your driveway.”
“It basically happened again. These two criminals attacked us, and one named Tiny was holding me and I really wasn’t sure if I was going to get away this time,” says Lauren and then Lauren starts to get emotional.
Phil sees Lauren getting upset and steps towards Lauren.
Lauren says, “But, I did the foot stomp on that fat guy Tiny and then the other guy went after Ryan with Ryan’s sword, but he missed Ryan and sliced the sword into Tiny’s head.”
“It sounds terrible,” says Phil.
“It was pretty gross,” replies Lauren as Lauren wipes a tear away from her cheek.
“Was that Tiny guy huge?” jokes Phil.
Lauren notices Phil is joking, chuckles, and answers, “He was definitely not tiny that’s for sure.”
Phil smiles and notices that Lauren is smiling.
“Ryan is next door,” says Lauren.
Phil nods his head and then walks across my driveway and opens Bobby G’s front door.
“You in here Ry?” asks Phil as he steps into Bobby G’s house through the front door.
“Yeah, in the kitchen,” I answer Phil.
Phil enters Bobby G’s kitchen and Phil asks me, “You okay?”
“Yeah, luckily, but it was too close for comfort,” I answer.
Phil looks at me and I ask him, “You remember those two guys we duct taped to the sign?”
“Yeah, Billy and Kevin,” answers Phil.
“How do you remember their names?” I ask.
Phil chuckles to himself and answers, “Cursed to remember stuff like that I guess.”
“Jaws Junior wants us to go back to his old house and get his bike, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk,” I say.
“What do the others say?” asks Phil.
“I haven’t talked with anyone yet. I’ve been in here and trying to get my mind right as I’m still all over the place after what happened today,” I answer Phil.
Phil opens up Bobby G’s refrigerator and grabs two beer bottles.
Phil hands me a beer and asks, “How many criminals did you see in the neighborhood?”
“Only the two, but there could have been more in the homes there. JJ’s old neighborhood is pretty big,” I answer.
“Did you meet with William or Bruce?” I ask Phil.
Phil sits down on a bar stool at Bobby G’s kitchen counter and answers, “We did, and he brought up a good point that the people at the prison are probably running low on food and they are going around looking for food and whatever else they need.”
“Makes sense,” I reply and then I take a sip of my beer.
“He also said that the Big Club is gone and his people from the Haven died fighting the Conquerors over it,” says Phil.
“No shit?” I ask.
“Yeah, Jakobe and Wesley and several other people from the Haven died and Jeremy took a group out to go after the Conquerors,” answers Phil.
“William is okay with Jeremy doing that?” I ask.
Phil puts his beer bottle down on the kitchen counter after taking a sip and answers, “I guess so, William seemed tired of trying to hold Jeremy back.”
“But I doubt William will be okay with Jeremy dying,” I say.
“Did you see Shaun?” I ask Phil.
“Yeah, he looks good, but I felt like he misses living here,” answers Phil.
“How long do you give it until they move back here?” I ask Phil.
Phil finishes his beer and answers with a half joking tone, “I don’t know, but probably if the Haven runs out of food.”
“Is the
