walking around Channelside and at meetings, but I don’t think they live there,” answers Brad.

I hear Brad say that he was at a meeting with DK and Jacob and I find that very interesting.

Brad sees the expression on my face, and he says, “But again Ryan, I’m sorry about before and I couldn’t do what they wanted me to do.”

“What was that they wanted from you again?” I ask.

Brad looks at me and doesn’t answer.

I think about Brad being ordered to kill me and if he could be capable of doing it.

Brad thinks about his kidnapped wife and he starts to get worried and stressed.

I see Brad get upset and ask, “Would killing me get your wife back?”

Brad looks at me with a confused expression.

I look at Brad and Brad asks, “You would do that for me?”

“No, sorry Brad, I’m just asking if that’s how you get your wife back,” I answer Brad.

Brad thinks about my question and says, “I really don’t know, but I just figured that was the deal.”

“So you could kill me, go back home, and still not get your wife back?” I ask Brad.

“Yeah, I guess,” answers Brad.

“Sounds like you need to come up with another plan,” I say.

Brad looks down at the living room tile floor.

I walk into Bobby G’s kitchen and look at where I previously kept DK’s walkie-talkie. It’s not there now as I put it away in a safe in our Armory house.

I think about DK telling me over the walkie-talkie, “I’ll show you that you can trust me.”

DK’s statement about trust was the last thing he said to me and then the next morning Brad shows up here at Citrus Oaks.

I decide to go get my walkie-talkie out of the Armory house and I walk towards Bobby G’s front door.

“You gonna be okay if I leave you?” I ask Brad as I stand at Bobby G’s closed front door.

“Yeah,” answers Brad.

I look at Brad and wonder if he will try to leave at the first chance he gets. I decide to leave Brad alone in Bobby G’s house, exit Bobby G’s house, and walk down the sidewalk towards our Armory house.

I enter the Armory house and unlock the safe that I put my walkie-talkie in. I remove the black bag that Saba put the walkie-talkie in and them remove the aluminum foil from the walkie-talkie and turn the walkie-talkie on.

I’m about to call for DK, but I stop myself and ask, “Is this the right thing to do by calling DK?”

Before I can talk on the walkie-talkie, DK’s voice is heard on the walkie-talkie, “How did you like my gift Ryan?”

I look down at the walkie-talkie as I hold it in my right hand.

“So it was you that beat up Brad and dropped him outside of our neighborhood?” I ask into my walkie-talkie.

DK laughs and answers over the walkie, “It wasn’t me exactly, but it was my people.”

“Why did you do it?” I ask into my walkie-talkie.

“Oh, but you know why. Brad was supposed to kill you,” answers DK over the walkie.

I think about Brad being ordered to kill me, DK having Brad beaten up and delivered to me, and wonder why DK did that.

“But why did you interfere with Brad’s order?” I ask into my walkie-talkie.

There is no answer from DK over the walkie-talkie.

I hear a call over the radio, “Ryan? Are you allowing Brad to leave?”

I put down my walkie-talkie and grab the radio that is on a charging station inside the Armory house and answer, “Stop him, and don’t let him leave yet.”

“Will do sir,” replies Brody over the radio.

I place the radio back on its charging station.

“Won’t you get in trouble with Sal or Jacob or whoever for interfering with Brad’s order?” I ask into my walkie-talkie to DK.

“No one knows that I did that except you, me, and my people,” answers DK over the walkie.

“So what’s the next step here? What did you hope to accomplish by delivering Brad to me?” I ask into my walkie-talkie.

There is no answer from DK over the walkie-talkie.

Every time there is no answer from DK over the walkie-talkie I feel a bunch of different emotions, but I mostly get pissed that he doesn’t respond to me. Lack of communication is a big pet peeve of mine, especially when someone doesn’t communicate during an important time.

“Well, thanks for the gift, but I didn’t really need any more stress around here,” I say into my walkie-talkie.

I’m about to turn off my walkie-talkie and DK replies over the walkie, “We have some things to talk about and I want to meet.”

Before I can reply, DK says over the walkie, “Meet me at World of Trade, the same place as before in three days at noon.”

“And what if I don’t?” I ask into my walkie-talkie.

“I wouldn’t recommend that,” answers DK over the walkie with a threatening tone.

“How do I know it’s not a setup?” I ask DK into my walkie-talkie.

DK quickly answers over the walkie, “You don’t. See you in three days.”

CLICK.

I hear DK turn off his walkie and I turn off my walkie-talkie. I put my walkie-talkie back into the black bag that Saba put it in, put the black bag in the safe, and close and lock the safe.

I ask myself, “Did I just fuck up? Did I make things worse by calling DK?”

I put my head down and put my right fingers on my forehead and eyes and rub my forehead as I start to feel the early symptoms of a migraine headache.

I exit the Armory house and enter the Medical house.

Deb is in the Medical house as I enter through its front door.

Deb is
