He looks up behind me at hearing the door open. Nicoli walks up toward us as he nods at his men. Letting go of my arm they turn to head back to the doorway. Nico reaches out grabbing hold of my hand for a moment before I jerk it away and out of his grasp. "Do not touch me." I spit out at him. Anger flashes across his eyes as he grasps my arm, jerking me to him.
“Watch your mouth, we are in public.” His voice is deadly low as he indicates the men still standing outside to our right.
“When was the last time you were with her?”
“What?” He asks briefly confused by my question.
“When was the last time you fucked her Nico?”
He stands there still gawking at my question.
“Liliana.” He warns.
"I need you to answer the question Nico."
“Don't ask me questions you don’t want to hear the answer to.” He clips out.
“I asked you the question didn’t I?”
“A week ago.” Mouth dropping open as it is now my turn to gape at him.
A week ago would have been...That mother f-. “You fucked her the day before you came for me? Please tell me you’re joking.” He stands there not responding to my question. “You’re a fucking pig, and a liar. Giving me all that bullshit about wanting me, feeling something for me. Tell me, were you hoping to whore around with her one last time before announcing yourself to me? Is that why you didn’t bother to come after me when I had had enough of her repulsive little display. Or maybe it's always been your intention to keep her as your mistress huh? ”
“Liliana that is enough!” He roars out, raising his voice at me. “Yes, I fucked her before I came for you, but I don’t give a damn about her. After you walked away inside I went to go find you. She wouldn’t drop it though until I all but threw her into that bathroom. What you walked in on, that was not an attempt to fuck her. That was me warning her to watch her fucking mouth in front of you, to address you with respect. I don’t care what fantasies she has in her head about us. There is no us, there never was and I made that absolutely clear just now.” Still hurt by the knowledge of what he admitted my insecurities roared to life inside me.
“Why did you not address me as your fiancee when you introduced me to her?”
“Because nobody knows about this engagement yet. Aside from Daveon and Ciro. I needed to keep it quiet until we could announce it.”
“Why? Are you ashamed of me, of this.” Holding my finger up with his ring on it. “You don’t need to marry me, we can call it off. No one even knows about it yet. You don’t owe me anything, I can just go back home to my father and be married off to some other asshole just like you, someone who I would have ended up with before you came along anyway.” I begin to pull the ring from my finger, with every intention of throwing it at him. His eyes darken at my words. Grabbing the hand with his ring, he holds it back up, stopping me.
“I told you before that this is to never come off, and it will never come off. We are going through with this marriage and I don’t give a shit what anyone thinks or who disagrees. You do not get a choice in the matter either. You belong to me.” He growls out. Without giving me a chance to disagree he grips the back of my neck tightly, forcing his lips down on mine. He consumes them as he devours me, laying claim to what I already allowed to be his.
Pulling away after making his point clear, he grabs hold of my arm. “We are going back inside and announcing this engagement so we can go the fuck home and I don’t want to hear one more smart ass word from your mouth.” Dragging me with him back inside, determined to announce to everyone what his lips had just silently commanded to my own, leaving no room for argument. You are mine.
Once we are back inside he grabs two champagne glasses off a passing tray. Pushing one into my hand as he releases me, walking up a few steps onto an elegant stairway. Turning and facing the crowd it doesn’t take long for the murmuring and chatter to die down. Silence falls over the room as everyone turns, giving their full attention to their Capo. Speaking loudly, radiating authority and power over everyone here. “I have gathered all of you here tonight as I have an announcement to make.” He pauses his speech, looking out to everyone before his eyes settle on me. Holding a hand out towards me he calls me. “Liliana.” I have to force my legs to move toward him. Making a point not to look around at all the curious eyes that are watching me. When I am close enough to take hold of his hand he pulls me up beside him. With nowhere else to look except out into the mass of people, I see a mix of curiosity and confusion across their faces. “I have decided to take Liliana Rossi, daughter from the Cosa Nostra as my wife. I expect that you all will be welcoming and respectful towards her moving forward.” A few shocked gasps echo out in the silence as everyone's faces morph into a variety of expressions. Varying out among the crowd anywhere from astonishment, shock, anger, excitement, to displeasure. Though some
