Sophie is being patched up in one of the rooms. She has flesh wounds and I am thankful that they weren’t deep. She had passed out from the adrenaline.
I head back over to her so that I can be by her side. They wanted to keep her for a few hours since they weren’t sure if she hit her head during the fall and wanted to take precautions. It could have something to do with pretty much the whole MC in the waiting room or outside. Everyone is here for Shield.
All the women come into the room and make sure Sophie is okay. She falls asleep while they are talking, so they leave. We have a couple brothers on guard outside the door.
One thing we know for sure is that someone had tried to hit Sophie. We won’t rest until we know who tried to take my woman out. I have a feeling I know who it is, and the fucker better watch his back because he’s about to be in a world of pain when I get through with him.
Chapter Eleven
Trigger ‘Colton’
Hours have gone by when the doctor finally makes an appearance. He lets us know that Shield is in critical condition and that the next seventy-two hours are the most crucial. The vehicle hit him quite hard. He has a brain swelling and a few fractured ribs with his left leg and arm broken. They can’t wake him up yet until the swelling goes down.
I watched as Sophie cried for him. Stacey let me know the details of what happened. Shield had seen the car and they were screaming for Sophie to move, but she didn’t. Shield took off faster than Stacey had seen anyone run and basically pushed her out of the way so that the car hit him. Her scrapes are from hitting the pavement when Shield moved her, but I can’t be angry at him for that. He saved my woman’s life. She’s much smaller than him and the impact of the vehicle would likely have been fatal for her.
Shield isn’t out of the woods yet. I really fucking hope he wakes up so that I can thank him for saving my woman. That brother once again had proven his name by saving my woman’s life while risking his own.
I get everything ready to get my woman home. She needs her rest to heal, but she doesn’t want to leave. They moved Shield to a room, but he’s not allowed visitors for very long. I promise her that I will bring her back once she gets cleaned up and eats. She reluctantly agrees.
I take her home to take care of her as much as she will let me because I can already tell that she’s going to be stubborn and want to be by Shield’s side.
I’ll give my baby whatever she wants, she’s alive and that’s not something that I could have said if it wasn’t for my brother.
Sophie
I spent day after day by Shield’s side. I couldn’t help but feel terrible and that it was my fault.
If I hadn’t had come here, and made Shield take me out to go shopping, then he would be fine. He threw himself in front of the vehicle so that I wouldn’t get hurt.
Trigger had taken me home but, after a short nap, cleaning up, and eating, I demanded that he take me back to the hospital to see Shield. He looked me in the eyes for a few minutes and nodded. I could tell that he wanted me to stay home and rest, but he must have seen how determined I was. Nothing was going to stop me from being at Shield’s side.
I was glad that, as the days went on, Colton hadn’t gotten jealous. I was afraid that he wouldn’t want me to sit with Shield every day during visiting hours, seeing it as more than me looking out for a friend who I see as a brother more than anything.
I also think that because the club has a brother watching the door that everyone feels I’m safe here. I don’t think that I will feel safe until we know where Vince is. He seems to have disappeared.
When the club contacted his father to find out where his son was, that didn’t go over well because Vince and my mother had told him that I was at a wellness retreat. Apparently, I wanted to look good for our wedding day.
My mother was planning the whole thing behind my back and I am set to marry Vince in two weeks.
I felt completely horrified. They seemed to be living like I was coming back and had everyone fooled.
That creeps me out more than I care to admit because I feel like something is coming and it doesn’t feel good.
I only hope that we will all be prepared when it happens.
Trigger ‘Colton’
I pull up to the hospital on my bike.
I already know that my woman is there. She had only left Shield’s side when visiting hours were over and she was asked to leave.
If I didn’t already know that I loved her, her devotion to ensuring Shield’s health would have definitely cemented it. She had already claimed my club and brothers as her own family whether she knows it or not.
I know she feels bad about him getting hit because there is this look of guilt on her face every time I see her with him. There is only one way that she’s going to believe that she isn’t at fault and that’s from Shield. He needs to be the one to tell her and reassure her. I hope that he fucking wakes up and tells her.
It’s been three long
