in Dallas. He was the latest. I had James Caltwell killed in Atlanta, Drew Wilks in Atlanta, Murry Summerset in Washington, Alice Parker in Boston, Nick Pushon in Topeka, Janet Hammer in San Francisco and Tommy Listener in D.C.”

“If I find that there are more, I’ll send the tape to the press.” She warned.

“Okay goddamn it, there was also a husband and wife, here in Wyoming.” He blurted.

“Now, why did you have all these people killed? Remember, I will be looking into this and if I don’t get the straight answer, you can kiss your fat ass good-bye.”

“I killed them because they stood in my way, for one reason or another. Or, because I didn’t like them or they talked shit about me, that would have hurt my career. They got in my way. Besides, what does it matter, you got paid. I paid you good for each hit. They were nobodies, nothing. Less than nothing. I am in a position to help you. I can send more hits your way. I can pay you a lot more once I become president. It wasn’t personal. Really, I just couldn’t have that shit blowing back on me. You understand, I’m sure. It was nothing personal.” He began to babble and whine.

Imani nodded at Haiden who turned off the tape for the last time. They had what they needed.

“Yes, asshole it was personal to me. You tried to have me killed twice.” She said.

“No, no, only once.” He argued.

“Actually asshole, twice. And if I’d not been the one, someone would have killed her.” Haiden said, anger in his voice.

“What? What? You’re the one, you took my money.” Best said, confused and indignant.

“You know, you’re a complete jackass. You aren’t fit to run or lead our country. I’m doing our country a favor in fact.” Imani said in a light voice, and laughed at the end. She looked up at Haiden who grinned at her.

She stood, and so did Haiden.

“What do you want to do with him?” Haiden asked.

“I was thinking about opening him up and letting him bleed out, you know it would take a bit, but he’d be dead.”

“Jesus, no, no. Please, you said if I told everything, you’d not kill me.” Best begged.

“Actually, I didn’t promise anything.” She laughed.

“It’s up to you babe, whatever you want, then we can go home and relax.” Haiden grinned, he leaned over and kissed her on the lips, their NVGs clacking.

Imani grinned up at him, and nodded. She bent down and stuffed the socks back into Best’s mouth, cutting off his scream. She took her knife and drew it down his gut, pushing deeper. The skin split and the inner peritoneum opened up. Best squealed through the socks, his body rocking wildly to get away from the knife.

“Oops, I think I nicked something, when he rocked over. I think he’ll bleed out quick.” She said.

“That’s okay, as long as he dies. No one tries to kill my girlfriend, nobody puts baby in a corner, I’ll tell you that.” He said.

“Idiot.” She laughed, and they left Best on the floor, his cries becoming weaker. They slipped from the house and went back through the woods. It took a bit of time, they were trying not to trip on logs and branches. At the car, they stripped off their outer clothing, changed gloves.

“You’re good, I don’t see any blood on your garment.” Haiden said.

“Yeah, I try to keep anything from touching me, don’t want to take anything away from the crime scene.” She smiled. “Put them in the trash bag. Let’s go back to the hotel. We should get there before dawn.” Imani said getting into the car.

On the drive back to the hotel, they made a stop at a rest stop, Haiden took the garbage bag and put it in one of the outdoor trash receptacles. He’d moved most of the trash aside and slipped the black garbage bag beneath the other trash. With luck, the clothing would never be found. They were in Colorado, well away from Best’s home and pending crime scene.

Arriving back at the hotel, Imani put her wig and glasses back on. They went inside their room and took a long shower together. They’d left the weapons in the vehicle, hidden beneath the seats. Haiden put the key into a magnetic box and placed it under the wheel-well of the car. Someone would come by later to pick up the car. They’d not left anything behind in it.

Imani cleaned her knife in the bathroom sink, and dried it. She then wrapped up her knife and packaged it back up with her taser and their NVGs. They would catch a cab to the airport and swing by to ship her the package back home, overnighting it. They sat on the bed and she called Nobu. It was nearly 5:30am.

“Hope I didn’t wake you.” She said.

“No, I’ve been waiting. You have the tape?” Nobu asked. She could hear the exhaustion in his tone.

“Sure do, stand by to record it.” She said.

“Ready when you are.” He assured her.

After a few minutes Haiden clicked off the recorder.

“Got it. Okay, I will call the Washington National News and I think CNN news. I’ll tell them who it is from, and what is going on. Then I’ll play it for them, make sure they have time to record.”

“Will they be able to trace your call Nobu?” Haiden asked.

“Naw, I’m good, I’ll bounce the signal off a few satellites and a few different hubs. They’ll think I’m calling from Washington.”

“Okay Nobu, we’re going to catch a couple hours of sleep, then catch our flight back. Thanks again.” Imani said.

“Glad you guys are safe. Sleep tight. I got this.” He said and hung up.

For now, they took advantage of the down
