“I will keep her busy here for the next few days leading up to the engagement party.”
Letting out a light chuckle Daveon quips, “oh I'm sure you will, based on the position you were in when we walked in, I don’t doubt you'll have plenty to do to keep yourselves entertained.”
Ignoring him I continue. “Actually I will still have to make an appearance among the men. I have to meet with some of the underbosses on some things now that I am back too. Show face and go over numbers and things at the clubs, make sure everything is still in line. During that time I am away, I want one of you with her here.”
“I am not babysitting your fiancee.”
“You will do as I ask Daveon.” I bite out, fixing him with a glare. He groans clearly not looking forward to being cooped up here all day. He prefers to be out in the middle of things, enjoys getting out in the midst of the chaos. Looking up at Ciro he only nods in acceptance of my command.
“Why don’t you make Marina do it?” Daveon pipes up again trying to get out of it still.
“You and I both know Liliana is nowhere near able to handle Marina yet.” He groans again, knowing I am right before he falls silent.
I turn my attention back to Ciro. “So tell me how things have been while I was away?” Directing my question to him, he gives me a briefing on anything and everything that happened the few days I was away.
Dismissing them after I am fully up to date on things. I leave them behind in my office in search of Liliana. They can let themselves out. Looking around I head up to the second floor when I don’t find her downstairs. All of the doors left open in her exploration of the house. I finally find her sitting on the floor in our room. Going through some of her boxes brought up here by some of my men. I stay standing under the doorframe watching her until her eyes flick up, finally noticing me. She sees me looking down at all her things sprawled across the floor.
“I was just going through my stuff to pull out the things I needed. We can move my stuff into another room so it's out of the way."
"Liliana you can unpack whatever you want to. This is your home too now."
"I don't really have a lot, but thank you."
Nodding at her I ask, "have you eaten yet?" She shakes her head in response. "I will go get us some food."
Turning I make my way back to the kitchen to get us something to eat.

LILIANA
Going through my things I am not quite sure where any of my stuff would fit in. Not that there isn't any space for it, but that it just doesn't seem to belong here. It's not like they are important things anyway though. My most valuable items to me can fit in my hands. Pulling them out of my box, I place them on the dresser. Laying out the necklace and earrings that had belonged to my mother, along with her sapphire hair clip. It belonged to not only my mother but grandmother and her mother before that and so on. Passed down within each generation.
After putting some toiletries in the bathroom inside an empty drawer, I make quick work at hanging up my clothes. He had cleared an entire side of the closet for my stuff which was immaculate in size. My clothes don't even fill half of it. Looking over my outfits I remember Nicoli mentioning the engagement party in a couple days. Glancing over my dresses I am not sure what I could possibly wear. Nothing I have would be worth wearing to something like that.
What the heck do you even wear being announced as the fiancee of the head of the Familia… Not anything I own that's for sure. Sighing as I add another thing to my list of stuff to be stressed out about for this event. I mean my dress should be the least of my worries considering I'm about to be thrown into a new famila just like that, but it's not. Trying not to dwell on it I leave the closet and go down to get some food.
Finding Nicoli sitting on a stool eating a sandwich at the counter is the most suburban looking thing I have ever seen. He doesn't look like he is the head crime boss of the east coast. Sliding the plate to me as I approach, half of the sandwich awaits me. My stomach growls at the sight and I blush. I begin digging in to appease my sudden starvation. I finish it rather quickly when I notice Nico staring at me like I just devoured a kitten instead of the sandwich. "What?"
"Nothing, I'm just surprised."
Prodding when he leaves it at that. "About?"
"That you didn't just choke to death on that sandwich considering I don't think you even chewed it." Feeling the warmth of another blush rise under my cheeks.
"I did too," I grumble. "You know it's not polite to watch someone eat. I mean who does that?" He grins at our playful banter.
“So we need to discuss the engagement party.” My face falls slightly. To be honest I am dreading having to go through with the announcement. Not sure what is going to await me.
“Okay.”
“You need to be on your best behavior during it.” I scoff at him as he talks. Giving me a stern look he continues. “I am serious Lil, most of these people will not outright accept you because of the family you come from. I can’t have you giving them another reason to do so. Things will be hard enough to maintain because I am marrying
